Community Statement: Pool & Rec Centre
The Shire of Halls Creek would like to thank the community for its patience as we work to repair damage caused by recent vandalism at the Recreation Centre.
The Shire is currently waiting on contractors and specialist resources to complete the necessary repairs and safety checks. While this work is underway, our goal is to reopen the swimming pool in around four weeks, noting that this timeframe is dependent on our ability to fully restore the facility to pre-vandalism standards.
We are also installing a new shade sail at the pool and will aim to coordinate the pool reopening with the completion of this upgrade.
Repairs to the recreation centre and gym are more extensive and will take longer to fix. We will continue to keep the community informed as timelines become clearer.
Shire CEO Sue Leonard acknowledged the disruption had been frustrating for the whole community, especially during the summer months.
“We know how important these facilities are for health, wellbeing and connection,” Ms Leonard said. “Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while we work to get the pool and recreation facilities back to a safe, welcoming standard for the whole community.”
Further updates will be shared as works progress.
